About me

Agnieszka Dąbrowska-Kras

piccolo clarinetist, educator, digital content creator

Born in Białystok, Poland. She graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Kraków (2015) and obtained her PhD degree from the same institution (2020). Her artistic development was shaped through numerous masterclasses with outstanding clarinetists, including Shirley Brill (Israel), Florent Héau (France), Guy Dangain (France), David Krakauer (USA), Kiryl Rybakov (Russia), Matthias Müller (Switzerland), and Gábor Varga (Hungary).
As a laureate of many international music competitions in Poland, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, and Slovenia, Agnieszka performs regularly in Poland and abroad, collaborating with artists from around the world. Her solo appearances include performances with the INSO–Lviv Orchestra, Poznań Orchestra Nova, and the Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Kraków.
Her distinctions include the Young Poland Scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2014), the Ars Quaerendi Award of the Małopolska Region for outstanding contributions to cultural promotion (2019), and the Music Eagles Award for artistic, scholarly, and educational achievements (2024).
An important part of her artistic activity has been the Fog and Flamenco Clarinet Project, a concert series presenting rarely performed twentieth century works by Spanish and English composers. This concept was further developed in her debut album, released in 2023 together with pianist Wioletta Fluda-Tkaczyk, Spanish Clarinet Music of the 20th Century, featuring works by Miguel Yuste Moreno, Julián Menéndez, Joan Guinjoan, and Salvador Brotons.
The central focus of the artistic and research activity of Agnieszka Dąbrowska-Kras is the E-flat clarinet, at the core of her original project, Piccolo Re:Vision. The project aims to redefine the role of piccolo clarinets in musical practice by reshaping their perception and establishing their full, independent presence on the concert stage. Her work includes developing performance approaches, documenting existing repertoire, and initiating the creation of new compositions, educational materials, and transcriptions for piccolo clarinets. In 2025, she composed Piccolo Uccello for solo E-flat clarinet, inspired by birdsong. The outcomes of this activity have been presented at international clarinet festivals in Italy, Poland, and Ireland, as well as through her digital platforms, where she creates original educational and artistic content for Instagram and YouTube.
Alongside her artistic activity, Agnieszka shares her knowledge and experience with young clarinetists at the Oskar Kolberg Music School in Raciechowice, Poland. Her students have received numerous awards at national and international competitions, and she is regularly invited to serve as a jury member at Polish and international competitions for young performers.
