CD Spanish Clarinet Music

Spanish Clarinet Music of the 20th Century presents a thoughtfully selected programme of works for clarinet and piano by Spanish composers of the twentieth century, revealing the stylistic, rhythmic and timbral richness of this repertoire. The recording features compositions by Miguel Yuste Moreno, Julián Menéndez, Joan Guinjoan and Salvador Brotons, in which tradition meets the modern musical language of the period.
Conceived as the result of deliberate repertoire and interpretative exploration, the recording focuses on music that is less frequently performed yet of outstanding artistic value. Interpretations by Agnieszka Dąbrowska-Kras (clarinet) and Wioletta Fluda-Tkaczyk (piano) bring out a wide range of moods, colours and temperaments, forming a coherent and multi-layered portrait of twentieth-century Spanish music.
On the day of its release, the album reached number one on Spotify’s “Unexpected Classical” playlist, with the artist’s photograph featured as the cover image of the playlist. The recording also received positive reviews, including a critical review published in Notatnik Pianistyczny (2024, No. 5), which noted:
It would be unjustified not to mention the historical awareness with which the Polish performers approached these works. Each composition reveals respect and sensitivity towards the individual styles of the composers, becoming a musical tribute to twentieth-century Iberia. The album pulses with a wealth of sounds, a richness of emotions and a kaleidoscope of Spanish temperaments. Highly recommended.
