Piccolo Uccello for E-flat Clarinet solo

Piccolo Uccello is a seven-minute composition for E-flat clarinet solo, written in response to the need to expand the solo repertoire for this instrument. Inspired by birdsong and sounds of nature, the work unfolds as a musical narrative shaped by subtle contrasts of color and expression.
The composition moves between lyrical, reflective passages and moments of virtuosity, revealing the richness of the piccolo clarinet’s technical and timbral possibilities. Its musical language is expanded through contemporary techniques such as microtones, multiphonics, glissandi and flutter tonguing, broadening the instrument’s expressive palette. Particular attention is given to sound color, articulation and flexibility of phrasing, opening wide interpretative possibilities.
Piccolo Uccello forms an important part of the Piccolo Re:Vision project and represents a personal synthesis of ongoing performance explorations. The work aligns with the project’s aim of developing the repertoire and redefining the role of the piccolo clarinet in solo music.
